Clareman Chris Droney is one of Ireland’s most legendary exponents of concertina music. He first came to prominence in the 1950’s and 60’s, during which time he became Senior All-Ireland Concertina Champion nine times! His music is that of the dance, overflowing with life, vibrancy and rhythm, marked by the distinct old local style of his native North Clare.
Voted among Top 10 Irish Traditional Music Albums 1995 by the Irish Echo (NY)
Chris Droney’s style is informed by the imperatives of the dance: rhythm, rhythm and rhythm . . . a master of the language of rhythm.
