When he comes home from school, Martin just wants someone in his family to listen to him. But his mum and dad never seem to have time for him.
Martin is certain the real reason they have no time for him is his four moaning brothers.
But who will listen to him for a change?
So he decides he needs a different grown-up, one all to himself, who will listen to every single one of his complaints. The thought of his grandad cheers him up. Grandad listens well and, Martin is sure, always has time for his stories.
But Grandad, it turns out, has other plans. Whatever horror story Martin comes up with, Grandad always has a worse one ready. His complaining visits bring him little comfort, until he hears about the worst boy in the world and knows he has a story even Grandad cannot outdo.
