Rúnaí an Aire, new novel by Brian Ó Tiomáin
Rúnaí an Aire by Brian Ó Tiomáin has just been published and is now available at www.cic.ie, with availability in other bookshops to follow soon.
It is a contemporary novel for adults that explores power, politics, and personal relationships in today’s world.
About the Novel
Proinsias is a civil servant who works in the Department of Community, Youth, Heritage and Irish. His spirit is being stifled by the department’s strict control, procedures, precedents, and general conservatism — not to mention his managers. Outside of work, he has few friends and little in the way of companionship.
When a new Minister of State, young, energetic and full of promise, is appointed to the department and Proinsias is selected as her secretary, he allows himself to hope that things may finally improve. But things are not turning out as he had hoped. He has far to travel before he realises that the key to his own potential lies in his hands.
