LISTEN: podcast – Scriorrann an tAm 20 February 2018 – Posted in: News

The book of the month for February over at is Sciorrann an tAm by Orna Ní Choileáin, a collection of short stories we published back in 2014.

On hand to review the book this month were Siún Ní Dhuinn (Irish-language Digital Co-ordinator with RTÉ) and Ronan Doherty (PhD candidate at NUI Maynooth).

Siún would recommend this book to anyone returning to learning Irish, as the style and language level would suit that type of reader.

We won’t spoil the rest of the podcast for you, and the reviewers certainly cover a lot of ground in this month’s discussion. You can have a listen to the whole podcast below:

A collection of short stories from the author of the highly acclaimed Canary Wharf.

Varied and lively are just two of the adjectives used to describe Ní Choileáin’s work, which inhabits the liminal, dangerous areas of life. If these are dark places, they’re darkly humorous also. Watch out – Orna Ní Choileáin’s world is not for the faint-hearted.

Sciorrann an tAm was shortlisted for Gradam Uí Shúilleabháin, Book of the Year, in 2014.
