Léirmheas Leabhar on TG4: I dtír mhilis na mbeo 2 June 2017
Cois Life is delighted that I dtír mhilis na mbeo by Colm Ó Ceallacháin was chosen by Léirmheas Leabhar to be reviewed live on TG4. The show takes place on a monthly basis, with a book being discussed and critiqued by two guest reviewers.
Taking part in the discussion last night were Éilis Ní Anluain, a writer and novelist, along with Jody Coogan, a doctorate student currently studying in Queen’s University Belfast. Dr. Róisín Ní Ghairbhí, who lectures at Mary Immaculate College, presents the show, which is sponsored by Foras na Gaeilge.
The conversation was both lively and positive, and we are pleased that both guests enjoyed the book. They praised it highly for the realism of the characters, and for the style of narration seen throughout the stories. Ó Ceallacháin discusses complex questions of humanity and morals, and manages to draw his readers in slowly but effectively. Among the stories are two experimental works, which make use of word play in a very creative way. These two stories received much praise from both reviewers for their originality and ingenuity.
The episode of Léirmheas Leabhar has been put up on the TG4 player , where it will be available for playback for five weeks from 1 June.
