International Writing Workshop

Are you a writer working in the Irish language and living outside of Ireland? This July, Cló Iar-Chonnacht offers an opportunity to connect with fellow Irish-language writers online.

The International Workshop for Irish-Language Writers, focusing on prose and poetry, will take place via Zoom on Monday, 21 July 2025, from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm (Irish time). The workshop will be facilitated by acclaimed writers and editors Micheál Ó Conghaile and Micheál Ó Ruairc.

This workshop is intended specifically for writers who are writing in Irish and living outside of Ireland, who may not often have the chance to meet or share work with other Irish-language writers. The workshop is open to published writers and to new writers who have not published any work as yet. The working language of the workshop will be Irish only, and a good command of the language is necessary to participate fully.

The workshop welcomes submissions from both published and emerging writers. Writers are invited to submit one of the following for consideration: a short story, up to 3 poems, a flash fiction piece, an excerpt from a longer prose piece (5 pages or so). There is no fee to participate in the workshop but places are limited. Submissions should be sent in a Word document to Micheál Ó Conghaile at moccic22@outlook.com by 14 July 2025.

This initiative is supported by The Arts Council and organised by Cló Iar-Chonnacht.
