We are delighted to announce that Aingeal Ní Chualáin’s début poetry collection Dhá Scór Eala will be launched by the writer Jackie Mac Donncha at an event during Féile Joe Éinniú in Carna, Conamara on Sunday 5 May, 2024 at 4pm in Ionad an Acadaimh.

All are welcome to join us for the event.

“This collection is brimming with humanity and authenticity, its natural tones leaving a lasting impression on the reader’s mind.” – Oireachtas na Gaeilge Literary Awards judges comments.

Aingeal Ní Chualáin is from Carna in Connemara and went to school there. She spent many years teaching at secondary schools and teaching in the adult education sector. Later, she received a doctorate from the University of Galway. Her previous publications include Tomás Bairéad Rogha Scéalta. Dhá Scór Eala is her first collection of poetry.

“These poems try to capture what life is all about. They look at how the world’s future is being shaped right now and remember the things that have helped communities survive in the past: like respecting native culture, language, arts, and religion. They also celebrate the beauty of nature, and in particular, visit the image of the returning swans each year. The poems talk about the effects of wars, at home and far away, and suggest we think about peace more often.” – Aingeal Ní Chualáin
