Daideo (Cois Life, 2014) by Áine Ní Ghlinn has been named on the Shortlist for the 2015 Children’s Books Ireland (CBI) which were recently announced.

Daideo tells the story of a boy on the run from his parents – and of an old man on the run from his children. They meet on a Dublin-bound train, listen to each other’s story, they understand each other. But how will this new friendship work out?

This publication was quite historic in that it was the first Irish-language audiobook.

CBI organise the awards each year (they were formerly known s the ‘Bisto Awards’) to recognise excelnce in children’s books and the awards are among the most highly regarded by the general public in Ireland and abroad. The shortlist in published in March and the awards made in June – six separate awards are made. The shortlist for 2015 is as follows:

Áine Ní Ghlinn is a lecturer, journalist and writer. She has written 24 books – four collections of poetry and 18 books for young people including  Tromluí, Fuadach agus Madra Meabhrach. Cois Life will publish her next book for young people, Háta Zú Mhamó in 2016.
