Congratulations to Áine Ní Ghlinn who was awarded the prize for fiction for a her book, Daideo, at the CBI Book of the Year awards last week. Haiku más é do thoil é by Gabriel Rosenstock, the other Irish-language book on the shortlist also won an award.

There was a good mix of young readers, authors and publishers at the awards ceremony. Julia Eccleshare, children’s books editor at the *Guardian*, spoke beautifully about children’s books.

Daideo is suitable for a wide range of readers in the 12+ age group and is being read, we hear, by both 6th class pupils and transition year students as well as by adults looking for a simple yet gripping read

There is an audio-book of Daideo available for free download and use here and makes a very useful accompanying resource.
