Agus Anois – Beagáinín Ciúnais by Mike Mac Domhnaill will be launched at an event during the Michael Hartnett Éigse on Sunday 6 October at 2pm in the Desmond Complex in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick.

The first collection of writings in Irish by this Limerick writer who has received recognition for his short stories in English but who is best known for his poetry in Irish.

Tired of the traditional structure of the short story he started work on the writings contained in this collection. Experimental prose is a potential definition of the writing in this collection. He likes the label that the publisher Pádraig Ó Snodaigh gave him ‘file engagé’.

Raised in Newcastle West in Co. Limerick, he is a writer and activist. Nua Aois, An Cloigeann is a Luach (anthology), The Stony Thursday Book, Microphone On, Dal Cais, Weekly Observer, Feasta, Comhar, LÁ, I Live in Michael Hartnett (anthology).

He won the RTÉ Francis MacManus Short Story Competition in 2013 and was recognised for his collection Sifting: Uncle Ned Other Stories (Liberties Press, 2015). His work has been praised by Donal Ryan, Joseph O’Connor and Kelly Creighton.

Other titles: Mac Baintrí – Widow’s Son (Cluain Cath Press, 2009), Macalla “Maidu” (Coiscéim, 2013), Sifting: Uncle Ned and Other Stories (Liberties Press 2015), Forgiving Moon (Revival Press 2020), Mise Fear Pluaise (Coiscéim 2022), Weeds United (Revival Press 2024)
