Ár dTéarmaí Féin – Fidelma Ní Ghallchobhair (Cois Life, 2014) 7 September 2014 – Posted in: Uncategorised

This work traces the history and development of terminology in the Irish language from ancient times to the present day in a way that is accessible to all.

The influence of other language on Irish in terms of the language’s systems of devising words and dealing with loans-words and the impetus behind modern terminology in Irish are explored and the principles of terminologival work are set in an international context.

The everyday, practical work of terminology is then outlined with examples.

Fidelma Ní Ghallchobhair is a renowned terminologist and former Presdent of the Board of the European Association for Terminology.
